Outdoor Fun!


Looking for ways to cool off and have fun in the summer heat? Why not try playing in the water and having fun! Here are some great water ideas:

1. Pool 

Playing in the pool is the best way to cool off and have fun! Watch out for that chlorine!

2. Ocean, river, Creek

While the ocean might be a little less safe than a pool, and their might be more people, but who doesn't love the sand in their toes and the salty fresh air. And who doesn't love a ocean sunset. 

3. Sprinklers

In the front yard or in the back, there's something nostalgic about running around the sprinklers. 

4. Water park 

Packed with people, but packed with fun, water parks are an awesome way to stay cool and have fun. Who doesn't like going down the water pipes and getting thrown around?

5. Playing in the rain 

For those of you lucky enough to have summer rain, play in it! 

6. River rafting 

For those of you who are a little more adventurous, river rafting is the way to go. You can go down the lazy rivers or down crazy rapids, river rafting is the way to go!

Staying safe in the heat

Summer is in full swing! Kids are out of school, the sun is blazing hot and people are having fun outdoors. 

However, people tend to overlook the danger that the outdoors can bring. Skin cancer is becoming one of the leading causes of death in the United States and is the most prominent form of cancer in young adults ages 18 - 30 years old. 

So how can you prevent and protect yourself from harmful UV rays? 
1. Sunscreen

Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Nothing protects your body more than sunscreen. The key is applying once every hour. 

2. UV protective gear 

Sunglasses, long sleeve shirts and long pants protect the body from the sun's rays. Getting UV protective gear, like glasses, hats and scarfs also help with overall protection. 

3. Not going out during the peak of the day

The sun's rays are most powerful during the middle of the day. Going out in the morning or later in the afternoon is not only cooler but healthier too!

4. Not spending a lot of time out

It's recommended to spend less than 2 hours at a time outside. By limiting your outdoor activities to short bursts helps your skin recover and stay healthy.
